Steve Stroh, N8GNJ is a technology writer and one of the original founders of the “wetnet” Seattle packet network. He has wrote about the early days of broadband for magazines like Boardwatch and early articles TAPR on packet radio.

Dan Smith, KK7DS is a staff engineer at IBM's Open Virtualization site in Beaverton, OR. He has a M.S and B.S in Computer Sci and holds an Amateur Extra class license.

Getting Started in Digital Contesting

Steve Ford, WB8IMY, is the Editor in Chief of QST magazine and the ARRL Publications Manager. Steve spent a number of years in broadcast and print journalism before coming to work for the ARRL in 1991. He holds an Amateur Extra class license and enjoys a variety of ham interests including digital and satellite operating.

Steve Roberts, N4RVE skipped out of midwest suburbia in 1983 aboard a "computerized recumbent bicycle" and never looked back. Steve has spent the last 30+ years integrating ham radio and computers into everything from the original BEHEMOTH bicycle to his current project the S/V Nomadness.

Digital Uses in Emergency Communications

Scott D. Currie, NS7C, is the emergency coordinator for the Maple Valley ARES team, and president of the Maple Valley Amateur Radio Club. He has been a Ham radio operator for over 30 years. Holding an Extra class license, he is active in both voice and digital modes on the HF through UHF amateur bands. Currie teaches a popular Maple Valley community-based Technician licensing class, which has brought over forty new people into the hobby. He has worked as a large system hardware maintenance specialist and system account support representative for the IBM Corporation for 30 years, currently serving as the installation planning representative for the Northwest area.
